Task Description
:

Develop technical service specifications for Digital VTS Information service by using existing product specifications under the S-100 framework. Contibute to task 2.8.1 by identifying new elements to S-212 Product specification. Develop the service design using SECOM for Digital VTS Information and reporting services based on the service specification. |
| Objectives of the task : |
The objective of this task is to give guidance to organizations to be able to implement a digital VTS information and VTS reporting services in their area. |

| Compelling need : |
The information provided from VTS to vessels is one of the most important functions VTS has. Other remarkable functionality is reporting from vessels to VTS. WG1 has indentified a group of use cases for these functions that support provision of VTS services to vessels. In order to create standardized service instances for VTS information and VTS reporting, it is important to define a technical specification and service design. |

To develop the Technical Service Specification a coordinated approach with WG1 (operations) to define the use cases is needed first. After the definition of the use cases the other parts of the Technical Service Specification will be completed (e.g. Dynamic Behavior, Data Model, etc) After the completion of the Technical Service Specification the Service Design can be created. The data model needed for VTS Information functions is developed parallel to specification work and contributes to S-212 Product Specification development in task 2.8.1. |
