ENG21 Input papers in regard this topic were previously presented in ENG18 and ENG20 introducing the topic and main scope of the activity to ENG Committee, especifically in WG2. In parallel, work has been done in DTEC Committee in relation to the VDES channels (ASM, VDE-TER and VDE-SAT) and messages (Message 1, Message 93 and Message 16 respectively) to be used for the retransmission of SBAS dta through VDES. This effort has resulted in the complete definition of the payload with SBAS L1 &L5 data (corrections and integrity information) to be included in those VDES messagesy. This content was presented in DTEC4 and DTEC5 having been accepted to be included in the G1117 new version already in working status (ideally to be proposed to the Council after DTEC6). Then, an input paper has been presented in ENG21 to conitnue the previous work which means the required activities to be done to enable the retransmission of those messages by the VDES groudn station as well as their processing by the mobile station on board. These activities will be done in the frame of ENG Committee but also in the DTEC Committee. This will mean to present the content developed in both committees as well as to create a liaison among them (potentially to be proposed for DTCE6). The technical content to be developed most likley should be split to be incorporated in G1129 and G1117 (to be decided). Support was required to work on this topic after ENG21 to be extended for the whole 2026 at least.

It is intended to provide a draft ToC of this guideline in the next ENG23 committee for review, refinement and acceptance by the WG2. Additionally, technical content has been produced and reviewed in DTEC4 and DTEC5. This content, which was reviewed and accepted by DTEC WG3 in those committees, was proposed to be part of the G1117 VDES Overview guideline updated. Unfortunately, as per WG3 chairman understanding, this content was finally taken out from the G1117 working document being recommended to be included in another guideline covering PNT topics. Complementing this, a recent proposal has been submitted in ENG22 about the potential VDES shore station upgrade that would enable the SBAS data retransmission through VDES shore stations. It is intended this content will be matured in the coming months to be presented, reviewed and refined in ENG23. This technical content is suitable to be included in this guideline as well.
