Task Description :

Provide a platform to maintain and discuss VDES related:

  • IALA Standards, Recommendations, Guidelines
  • technical advances and testbed results
  • technical issues, and provide guidance where to address them
  • inputs to other organizations that can benefit from harmonization with IALA Standards, Recommendations, Guidelines and views
  • timeline of VDES introduction
Objectives of the task :

Harmonization of worldwide technical and regulatory work on the topic of VDES.
Expected outcome :
  • Up-to-date IALA Standards, Recommendations and Guidelines
  • Up-to-date VDES roadmap
  • Consensus on technical and regulatory ambitions for VDES, providing maximum effectiveness in changes across all organizations by pre-harmonization

O1 - Innovate, improve, and harmonise Marine Aids to Navigation constantly reflecting changing technology & system obsolescence, changing user needs, operational imperatives, environmental sustainability, and best practice.

O2 - Develop applicable international standards, recommendations and guidelines for adoption and use by its members and other relevant organizations or parties.

O3 - Offer its members a professional forum to share operational experiences, new techniques and technologies and issues of common interest and concern.
